Katie’s Kudos - Katie Clatterbuck finished up her long assignment at JLAN Solutions and received a lovely gift basket from her client manager, Ronnette Meyers. It’s rare that a consultant gets such a treat! We are so lucky to have such wonderful teammates and clients. Well done, Katie!
Hinz Sight Opportunity Alert - At our last Brown Bag, we spotlighted the weekly Hinz Sight Newsletter where we detail upcoming Federal opportunities. This is a great way to keep up with current contracts news! Highlights are posted on the LinkedIn page. This week’s post is about GSA Ascend. We also write about “Four to Follow” opportunities - this roundup includes: Missile Defense Agency Integration and Operations for Enterprise Solutions (MIOE)S, DOE CIO Business Operations Support Services 2 (C)BOSS 2, FAA SAVES, and NGA PORTICO. See the newsletter here for more information about each of them!

Come along and learn from some of the best!

All Hinzers received an email from Sharon Visser with mandatory training materials. Please review the entire message/attachments and make sure you submit the three items as listed below.
CUI Training: All Hinzers are required to read the NIST SP 800-171 training document linked here. This details your individual responsibilities for working with CUI data on pages 6-19. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): All Hinzers are required to read the BYOD Policy as listed on the Hinz Company Playbook. This details your individual responsibilities for handling your work device. The end of the policy includes a link to a form you MUST submit to indicate your acknowledgement (also found here). This form is due by March 15th!
Computer Details Submission: All Hinzers are required to update information about the computer used for their work at Hinz Consulting. The bottom of the BYOD form includes a link to a form you MUST submit with your computer details (also found here). Instructions are included to help find the necessary information requested. This form is due by March 15th!
Retirement Resources
As Hinzers approach retirement or the age of 65, there are critical decisions to make regarding healthcare coverage, Medicare enrollment, and Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions. Planning ahead ensures a smoother transition into Medicare coverage and helps you avoid unnecessary penalties. We recommend using all three following resources to help you plan:
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP): Every state has a SHIP office that offers unbiased, free counseling to provide personalized assistance for individuals who are eligible for Medicare. The counselors are trained and certified to help you navigate the complexities of Medicare coverage and enrollment. Anyone approaching the age of 65 should speak to a counselor to prepare for enrollment. Please visit the SHIP website to find your state’s information.
Health Advocate: The ADP Health Advocate is a resource available to help navigate the healthcare system. It is available for many things including clinical and administrative support services, estimating healthcare costs, and Medicare enrollment. Visit the website for more information or reach an advocate anytime at 866.695.8622 - be sure to mention your affiliation to ADP TotalSource. You may contact an ADP My Life Advisor directly for question about HSA contributions, continuing COBRA coverage for dependents, and a variety of other issues that Medicare impacts at 800.554.1802 or [email protected] M-F, 8:00am - 11:30pm EST.
Personal Accountant: Be sure you understand the rules around HSA contributions and Medicare enrollment. There may be tax penalties for contributions made after you enroll. Here’s a great article from Fidelity Investment about “HSAs and Medicare” to get you started. Remember to consult with a Medicare counselor or your personal accountant to make informed decisions based on your unique circumstances.
Performance Reviews: Almost there…The needs assessments are complete (so much fun!). Reviews have been distributed and everyone should have a meeting on the calendar with their manager soon. We aim to have them all done and acknowledged by St. Patrick’s Day.
March Madness: Are you ready for the Big Dance? Get your glass slippers and pick your Cinderella teams because it is time for March Madness! We are once again playing both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments. Anyone with the links below can join, so add the whole family for bragging rights at home AND at work - Double Bonus!
